Program "Gemer Clutch"
In the morning departure by bus to Gemer. First we visit the Domica Cave, the largest cave in the Slovak Karst, discovered in 1926, with an unforgettable experience of a cruise on the underground river Styx. The river rafting will take place only under favourable natural conditions. After the cave we will move through the town of Rožňava, where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we will visit the 18th century Andrássy family manor house in Betliar, built by Count Stefan Andrássy. The manor house contains unique collections of rare furniture, works of art and hunting collections. Around the manor is a park with lakes and pavilions, which can be walked through. From Betliar, in the afternoon we will move to the Slavosovsky Tunnel, which was built in 1941-1944 and no train has ever passed through it. It is a unique construction project of the so-called Gemer clutch after the loss of the territory of southern Slovakia during the Second World War. The tunnel is 2.4km long. We will experience a unique walk in absolute darkness and tell you something about this project. After the Slavosovsky Tunnel, there is the 400m long Koprassky Tunnel and the Koprassky Viaduct. On the way back, we will cross the Muran Plain, stopping on the way at the gopher meadow and also at the Chmarosky viaduct. This brick post that crosses the Gregor's valley measures 113.6m long and 18m high. In the afternoon return to Poprad.
Please note: The Slavošov Tunnel is not suitable for people with claustrophobia and health problems. It is recommended to wear warmer clothes and non-slip shoes.
